Viking House - Marrakesh

Project name

Viking House - Phase 3 (Marrakesh)

Project type

Student Accomodation

Location

Lincoln

Phase 3 of the Student Accommodation in Viking House. The project consisted of the demolition of an existing building (a former restaurant called 'Taste of Marrakesh) and the erection of a 4 storey building containing 15 Studio Apartments and social space.

- Led the pre-planning team so that planning could be achieved.
- Once planning was achieved the existing building was demolished. Worked with neighbours on delapse surveys and making good of any damage.
- Due to its location within the boundary of the Roman City of Lincoln, significant archaeological investigation was carried out, and several Roman burials were uncovered.
- After a shutdown period due to Covid restrictions, worked to appoint a new contractor.
- Continually led design team meetings and monitored the project.
- Reported to all stakeholders including the client, the fund and the University on programme, H&S, risks and cost.
- Liaised with local planners throughout to ensure conditions were discharged.
- Appointed and worked with local authority Building Control to ensure full sign-off of the building.
- Worked with local authority highways on road and lane closures to ensure that the contractor had a safe working and delivery space to the front of the site which was directly on a main road.
- Thoroughly handed over the building to the fund and the University, ensuring that all testing and certification were carried out.
- Ensured that all snagging and defects were identified and dealt with promptly.
